Will the GoJak G4107 work with aircraft wheel pants or fairings?

Clearance can be very tight when using a GoJak® on an aircraft equipped with wheel pants or wheel fairings. Before attempting to use the GoJak, it is important to check both the height of the fairing from the ground and its overall width around the tire.

The top of the GoJak roller sits approximately 3.25 inches above the ground. However, the U-shaped axle assembly extends slightly higher. The critical clearance point is approximately 3.5 inches (88.9 mm) from the ground.

The U-shaped axle provides approximately 10 inches of inside clearance at the top of the roller area, narrowing to approximately 9 inches at the bottom of the U-shape.

Why does this clearance matter?

The GoJak must be able to move far enough around the tire for the rollers to make proper contact. If the aircraft's wheel pant or fairing hangs too low, it can contact the GoJak before the upper roller reaches the tire.

The critical interference point, indicated by the orange arrow in the reference photo, is approximately 3.5 inches (88.9 mm) above the ground. If the bottom of the wheel fairing is below this point, the fairing may prevent the GoJak roller from gaining access to and making proper contact with the tire.

Width is also important. Even when there is sufficient ground clearance, a wheel pant that extends too far outward may interfere with the U-shaped axle assembly.

Because aircraft wheel pants vary significantly in shape and design, these measurements should be compared with the specific aircraft before determining compatibility.
